Barcelona, Real Madrid & Atlético Madrid all send scouts to watch Eredivisie starlet

Scouts from Spanish football’s three leading clubs have had scouts in attendance to watch the recent performances of AZ Alkmaar talent Kees Smit.

This comes amid mounting competition for the signature of the Dutch starlet.

Smit, a 19-year-old midfielder, is widely considered to be a future star in the making, hailed for his technical abilities, vision, range of passing and eye for goal.

Despite his tender years, the youngster is already a regular for AZ, with two goals and five assists to his name thus far this season.

With such talent comes inevitable outside interest, though, with a whole host of clubs understood to be sniffing around his signature.

As per a report from market insider Matteo Moretto of Marca:

“His contract expires in 2028, and scouts from Chelsea, City, Real Madrid, Barça, and Atleti have been present at AZ’s recent matches.”

It is also noted that Smit ‘could be one of the biggest names in next summer’s transfer market’.
