The brass at La Liga champions Barcelona have reached an agreement in principle with the entourage of Eric García, over the terms of a new contract.
This of course comes with the Spaniard in the midst of a stellar individual campaign to date.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘Talks between FC Barcelona and Eric Garcia to secure the long-awaited contract renewal for the player from Martorell are in their final stages.’
The parties, it is confirmed, have found common ground on the terms of a new deal, which will see Eric tied down for the long-term.
The former Manchester City man turned down an approach from reigning Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain to instead stay put in Catalunya’s capital.
Eric is for his part fresh off another starring performance this past weekend, which perfectly summed up the 24-year-old’s growing importance in Hansi Flick’s squad.
Tasked with filling in in the middle of the park amid the absences of both Pedri and Frenkie de Jong, the stopper shone bright on both sides of the ball, showcasing once more his invaluable versatility.
Eric, in fact, is the only Barcelona player to have featured in some capacity in every one of the club’s 17 fixtures across the season to date.
