Barcelona provide double Clásico injury update

Barcelona assistant manager Marcus Sorg on Saturday provided updates on the fitness of both Ferran Torres, and Jules Koundé.

This of course comes on the eve of the Blaugrana’s La Liga showdown with arch rivals Real Madrid.

Beginning with frontman Ferran, the former Manchester City star has not featured in a competitive setting since the October international break, owing to a muscular issue suffered whilst with the Spanish national team.

The 25-year-old was included on the Barcelona bench in midweek against Olympiacos, but was not risked by way of playing time.

Drawn on Ferran’s status to face Real Madrid on Sunday, Marcus Sorg in turn explained:

“We will see if Ferran can start tomorrow. It’s something we will decide upon tomorrow.”

Turning focus towards Jules Koundé, the Frenchman saw his status for El Clásico thrown somewhat up in the air over recent days.

This came owing to a fitness problem of his own, which forced the ex-Sevilla man to sit out training on Thursday and Friday.

After he was spotted back on the grass at the Ciutat Esportiva earlier today, though, Barca assistant boss Sorg announced:

“Jules Koundé trained this morning. We’ll have to see how his body reacts after the session, and if he’s ready to play, of course he’ll play.”
