Barcelona ‘progressing’ in move for Atlético Madrid star

The brass at Barcelona are making initial progress in efforts to bring in Julián Alvarez from La Liga rivals Atlético Madrid.

That’s according to journalist Jordi Jota of El Chiringuito TV.

Speaking during an appearance on the Chiringuito Inside YouTube channel this week, Jota explained:

“The issue of Julián Alvarez with Barça continues to progress: there has been contact between clubs.”

The Camp Nou hierarchy are understood to have identified frontman Alvarez as the ideal addition to Hansi Flick’s attacking ranks for next season.

With Robert Lewandowski primed to depart as a free agent, the World Cup winner has been earmarked as the perfect profile of player to fill the centre-forward spot in Barcelona for years to come.

Alvarez is appreciated for not only his technical abilities and eye for goal, but also his stellar attitude.

The issue for the Blaugrana now is finding an agreement with their counterparts at Atlético Madrid, expected to demand a massive sum to sanction the sale of such a key figure in Diego Simeone’s squad.
