Barcelona president Joan Laporta on Sunday made crystal clear his frustrations with referee Jesús Gil Manzano.
This of course comes fresh off the Blaugrana being left bemused by the decision-making of the official on Saturday evening.
Barca secured a much-needed return to winning ways yesterday, at the expense of Catalan rivals Girona.
Late in proceedings, with the scoreline still locked at a goal apiece, however, Hansi Flick was given his marching orders.
This came owing to a pair of yellow cards, the 2nd of which, in particular, left the German nothing short of bemused.
During an appearance in front of the media on Sunday, the aforementioned Joan Laporta therefore took full use of the opportunity to take aim at Gil Manzano:
“If there isn’t one, it’s very similar. We’ve appealed both yellow cards,” Barca’s president began, as per Mundo Deportivo. “The referee overstepped his bounds, and I’m waiting for a reaction to show him the second. I know it’s unlikely to get his suspension lifted. I’ve told Flick that we’re with him. I didn’t like the referee’s attitude.”
“This man has sent off almost all of our outstanding players. He has a resume that you just have to look at, we think nothing will happen, but it always happens, and it’s before such an important match. What happened yesterday… We weren’t sharp, not like we’re used to. It will give us a lot of confidence. And the way we finished, with a center back who ended up marking as a striker.”
