Barcelona president Joan Laporta is not yet fully convinced of the merits of a move for a player hotly tipped for a move to the Camp Nou this summer.
That’s according to journalist Santi Ovalle, who points towards Nico Williams as the player in question.
Wide-man Nico’s name has of course returned to the forefront of the headlines across all of Spain over recent days.
This comes after the attacker’s agent held a fresh round of talks with Barcelona sporting director Deco, during which he made clear Nico’s desire to link up with Hansi Flick’s squad this summer.
As much has reignited a transfer saga which spanned almost the entirety of the 2024 window.
And yet, one individual who remains far from convinced when it comes to the prospect of Nico finally landing at the Camp Nou this summer is Joan Laporta.
As per the aforementioned Santi Ovalle, speaking during an appearance on Carrusel Deportivo, there are two main reasons for this scepticism:
- Laporta has still not fully moved past Nico’s rejection last summer, a matter of pride for the Spanish patron.
- Barcelona’s president is concerned about a potentially negative impact in the dressing room from a standpoint of professionalism, with Nico a close friend of several members of Hansi Flick’s squad.
