Barcelona preparing opening offer for Juventus star

La Liga giants Barcelona are ready to move forward with an opening offer for a headline member of the attacking ranks at Juventus.

That’s according to Diario Sport, citing Italian journalist Mirko Di Natale, who point towards Federico Chiesa as the subject of the impending bid in question.

The name of wide-man Chiesa has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last 48 hours.

This comes amid mounting reports that the Italian international has been identified as a potential bargain signing on the part of the Barcelona brass.

Chiesa finds himself on the outside looking in at Juventus at present, not in the plans of new Bianconeri head coach Thiago Motta.

With just a year remaining on his contract in Turin, the 26-year-old is in turn understood to be available for a cut-price fee.

Barca, amid ongoing disappointment in their efforts to land first-choice winger target Nico Williams, have therefore drawn up plans to move forward with a first proposal for Chiesa’s signature.

As per the aforementioned Mirko Di Natale, as much will consist of €10 million to Juventus, and €6 million-per-year in wages to the former Fiorentina talent.

Juventus, for their part, are holding out for closer to €15 million, though, meaning negotiating remains to be done.
