The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona intend to reintegrate a member of the club’s loan army back into their first-team ranks next season.
That’s according to Fichajes, who highlight Iñaki Peña as the player in question.
Goalkeeper Peña has of course seen his name emerge as a prominent one in the headlines across Spain over the course of the week to date.
This comes after the 26-year-old provided fans with a timely reminder of his stellar shot-stopping talents.
En route to Elche securing a surprise share of the spoils in a meeting with La Liga leaders Real Madrid, Peña shone bright, conjuring up a number of brilliant saves.
This added to what has been a fine start to life for the Spaniard all told in Elche colours.
And as alluded to above, such excellence does not appear to have gone unnoticed back in Catalunya’s capital.
As per a report from Fichajes, amid the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Marc-André ter Stegen’s future, and with Wojciech Szczęsny having not exactly impressed thus far this season:
‘Barcelona’s initial plan is to keep Iñaki Peña as their backup goalkeeper next season.’
