Barcelona pencil in potential Wojciech Szczęsny debut date

The coaching staff at La Liga giants Barcelona want new signing Wojciech Szczęsny to be ready to compete in the club’s first outing post-international break.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Tuesday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

Goalkeeper Szczęsny, of course, was last week unveiled as a new Barcelona player.

Sought out as a needed reinforcement on the back of the long-term injury suffered by Marc-André ter Stegen, the 34-year-old put pen to paper on terms in Catalunya’s capital through the summer of 2025.

Szczęsny arrived in Spain understandably lacking in match sharpness, after announcing his retirement from the game earlier in the summer.

Evidently, though, the Pole is already considered to be in good shape.

This comes amid confirmation that Szczęsny could make his debut as soon as Barcelona’s next outing.

As per the aforementioned MD:

‘Hansi Flick’s plan is for the Polish goalkeeper to take advantage of these two weeks of the international break to get back into top form and be ready for the match against Sevilla on October 20th in Montjuïc.’
