La Liga giants Barcelona will be forced to make do without a pair of important defenders in the club’s upcoming showdown with Paris Saint-Germain.
This comes amid confirmation that both Eric García and Jules Koundé are set for incoming spells on the treatment table.
Defensive pair Eric and Koundé both played their part on Saturday evening, as Barcelona put Real Betis to the sword in a La Liga clash.
The former was hooked moments before the full-time whistle after pulling up with a muscular complaint, before Hansi Flick announced in his post-match press conference that Koundé was also dealing with a fitness complaint.
Both defenders, as a result, were put through medical tests back in Catalunya’s capital on Sunday afternoon. And as alluded to above, the results of these tests have since been revealed.
As per a statement across Barcelona’s website and social media platforms:
‘First-team player Eric Garcia has suffered a muscle injury to the rectus femoris in his right thigh. His recovery time is estimated at 3 to 4 weeks.
‘First-team player Jules Kounde has suffered a sprain to his left ankle and will miss the match against PSG. His availability for Sunday’s Clásico against Real Madrid will depend on how his injury progresses.’
