Barcelona open disciplinary case against club captain

Those behind the scenes at La Liga giants Barcelona have this week felt it necessary to open a case against a member of the club’s first-team ranks.

The player in question? Marc-André ter Stegen.

This comes amid the understanding that Ter Stegen is refusing to sign the club’s medical report regarding his injury.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:

‘According to sources close to the German goalkeeper, he has refused to sign the consent form for the club to send the injury and surgery report to the La Liga Medical Commission, which is to assess the severity of the injury.’

In the case of Ter Stegen’s injury being considered serious enough to rule him out for five months or more, Barcelona would be given the green light to use 80% of his salary to register another signing.

As of this moment, however, the situation is completely blocked owing to the shot-stopper’s stance.

In turn, those in the boardroom at the Camp Nou have felt it necessary to open disciplinary proceedings against Ter Stegen.

Further updates on the situation are expected over the days ahead.
