La Liga giants Barcelona are all set to bring in an up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at Atlético Madrid.
That’s according to journalist Angel Garcia, amongst others, who point towards Gerónimo Spina as the player in question.
Spina, for his part, is a 20-year-old defender, who chiefly operates in a central role.
The youngster spent this past season plying his trade with Atlético Madrid B, en route to 20 league appearances.
And along the way, Spina, it would appear, did enough to pique the attentions of those behind the scenes at another of Spanish football’s biggest clubs.
As per a report from the aforementioned Angel Garcia, relaid by ‘BarcaTimes’ on ‘X’, Barcelona are on the verge of closing a deal to bring Spina in for next season.
The impending transfer will come as a heavy blow for an Atléti side who had long considered their up-and-coming stopper a potential first-team star in the making.
