Barcelona miss out on double signing by Arsenal

La Liga champions Barcelona have been beaten to the signing of a pair of South American jewels by Premier League leaders Arsenal.

This comes amid confirmation that the Gunners have tied up a deal to land brothers Edwin and Holger Quintero.

Edwin and Holger are 16-year-old twins, who have spent recent years making a name for themselves as potential stars in the making on the books of Independiente del Valle.

Despite their tender years, both are already established U20 internationals with Ecuador.

Word of their talents has long made its way to Europe, with a number of leading clubs understood to have been keeping a close eye on the siblings for some time now.

Amongst the sides most interested were the aforementioned Barcelona, constantly on the lookout for breakthrough youngsters.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then the Blaugrana appear to have missed out.

As per a report from Diario Sport:

‘From London, it has been pointed out that Arsenal have done it (secured deals) with the Ecuadorian twins Edwin and Holger Quintero.’

The pair have already travelled to England’s capital to undergo medical tests, ahead of returning to join Arsenal in the summer of 2027.
