Barcelona miss out as transfer target heads to the Premier League

La Liga champions Barcelona have seen an alleged transfer target for next summer agree on the terms of a move to England.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who highlight Emmanuel Emegha as the player in question.

Emegha, for his part, is a 22-year-old attacker, who chiefly operates in a centre-forward role.

The youngster is fresh off an impressive campaign in France in 2024/25, which saw him rack up 17 direct goal contributions in 27 Ligue 1 appearances.

Such exploits did not go at all unnoticed across the continent, with a number of clubs understood to have expressed an interest in Emegha over the summer.

One such outfit come in the form of Barcelona, amid an ongoing search for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Deco, for one, is said to be a keen admirer of the Dutchman’s talents.

As alluded to above, though, Barca will be forced to look elsewhere in their pursuit of a new goalscorer.

This comes amid confirmation that Premier League heavyweights Chelsea have struck an agreement with partner club Strasbourg, for Emegha to make the move to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2026.
