Barcelona make first contacts over deal for Javi Guerra

The powers that be at Barcelona have initiated contacts with their counterparts at La Liga rivals Valencia.

This comes with a view to a potential summer deal for one of Los Che’s most prized possessions.

As per a report from Diario Sport, Barca have set their sights firmly on the signature of Javi Guerra with a view to next season.

Guerra, for his part, is understood to have been in the sights of the Blaugrana brass for some time now, with his growing prominence in the midfield ranks at Mestalla this season having only furthered interest.

The 21-year-old’s ability to line out in a variety of positions in the middle of the park makes him a valuable asset, with Barcelona sporting director Deco, as a result, having already touched base with Valencia regarding the possibility of a summer deal.

Guerra’s contract contains a release clause set at €100 million, though he would be expected to be available for much, much less.

‘Javi Guerra is one of the Spanish footballers with the greatest projection at the moment and Deco really likes him,’ it is added.

It now remains to be seen whether or not the cash-strapped Catalans can scrape together the required funds to coax Valencia into a sale.
