The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have initiated contacts over a potential deal for Branimir Mlačić.
This comes amid the understanding that the youngster has been identified as a potential future star in the making by Deco and co.
Mlačić, for his part, is an 18-year-old defender, who chiefly operates in a central role.
The Croatian is currently plying his club trade in his home country, on the books of heavyweights Hajduk Split.
Despite his tender years, Mlačić is already a first-team regular, long hailed for his defensive abilities.
And as alluded to above, such talents are now understood to have piqued the attentions of one of Spanish football’s leading clubs.
As per a report from market insider Matteo Moretto, speaking to Marca:
‘Barça has already inquired about the player, whom they consider an interesting option due to his potential and profile. “He’s a player they like a lot and have asked about”.’
Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund, it is noted, are also keeping a close eye on Mlačić’s development.
