The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have made a final call on the future of veteran striker Robert Lewandowski.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have confirmed that the Polish international will be allowed to depart at the end of the season.
Frontman Lewandowski has of course long seen the subject of his future prove a prominent one in the media chatter surrounding Barcelona.
This comes with the 37-year-old, despite his advancing years, still playing a leading role in Hansi Flick’s squad.
The understanding, in turn, is that Deco and co. have long been mulling over the possibility of extending Lewandowski’s expiring contract by a further 12 months.
As alluded to above, however, if the latest word doing the rounds on Sunday is anything to go by, then this will not be the case.
As per a report from Sport:
‘The decision has been made: the 37-year-old Polish striker has already covered his time at Barcelona. He will not continue next year and the necessary steps are already being taken to find a replacement for him.’
