The board at La Liga giants Barcelona have provided an internal response to the speculation linking Xavi Simons with a return to the club.
Recent days have seen the name of attacker Simons return to the fore in Catalunya’s capital in a major way.
This comes after it was suggested in the media that Barcelona could attempt to take advantage of Tottenham Hotspur’s ongoing struggles, by seeking out a summer deal for the Dutch international.
Spurs are of course locked in a shock relegation battle in the Premier League at present, with any potential drop to the Championship expected to give rise to an immediate outflux of talent.
And though Simons could be one such player on the move, Barcelona will not be his landing spot.
As per a report from Diario Sport:
‘Barça are not contemplating his return at the moment. Not only because of the high cost of the operation, but also because of a matter of sports planning.’
