La Liga giants Barcelona are actively negotiating an extended stay in Catalunya’s capital for youngster Patricio Pacífico.
This comes with the defender having already done enough to convince those behind the scenes in Barcelona of his readiness to contribute at the club in the long-term.
Pacífico for his part linked up with the Blaugrana during the January transfer window, on a short-term loan from parent club Defensor Sporting in his home country of Uruguay.
After overcoming an early fitness problem, the 20-year-old soon established himself as a key figure in the starting XI of Juliano Belletti’s Barca Atlètic.
From here, however, Pacífico’s Blaugrana dreams appeared to have been permanently dashed, upon the central defender suffering an ACL tear.
But as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from Catalunya is anything to go by, then Pacífico could yet be afforded a 2nd chance.
As per a report from Diario Sport:
‘The plan that all parties are currently handling, the intention is to extend his loan until June 2027 before definitively executing his purchase.’
Pacífico is considered a potential star in the making at the Ciutat Esportiva, with Barcelona therefore keen to maintain control over his short-term future.
