Barcelona legend Luis Suárez’s ban increased to 9 games

Former Barcelona star Luis Suárez has this week seen his heavy sanction in the USA added to yet further.

This comes owing to his behaviour in Inter Miami’s most recent outing.

Miami were back in action early last week, locking horns with the Seattle Sounders in the finale of the Leagues Cup.

Lionel Messi and co. headed into the matchup with sights on retaining their title from 2024.

When all was said and done on a disastrous night for Javier Mascherano’s side, however, they were instead condemned to the wrong side of a 3-0 result.

Amid mounting tensions between the two sides late in the 90, things then took a turn for the worse following the full-time whistle.

The aforementioned Luis Suárez, utterly incensed, was caught on camera spitting in the face of a member of Seattle’s staff.

This culminated in an initial six-game Leagues Cup ban, announced last week.

And as alluded to above, on Tuesday, the Uruguayan’s sanction has been added to by those overseeing Major League Soccer.

This comes by way of a further three-game ban, to be served in the American top-flight.
