Barcelona leave Real Madrid ‘alone’ with Super League call

The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have made the definitive call to abandon their push for a European Super League.

That’s according to RAC1, who have on Friday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

Barcelona had of course long stood as one of the final suitors of a game-changing Super League competition.

As much culminated in a severely fractured relationship between the Blaugrana and UEFA.

As alluded to above, however, this week, Joan Laporta and his board, from their end, have officially pulled the plug on the operation.

With relations with UEFA improving, and Barca happy with the newly-formatted Champions League, Barca no longer see the need for an alternative tournament.

As per a report from RAC1:

‘Thus, Joan Laporta leaves (Real Madrid president) Florentino Pérez alone in the race for the Super League to become a reality.’

It now remains to be seen how those on the other side of the Clásico divide respond to the news.
