Barcelona hold transfer talks over La Masia product’s return

La Liga champions Barcelona on Thursday held talks over what would be a surprise deal for RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have provided an insight into the finer details of the situation.

Deco, it is understood, met with one of Simons’ agents, as well as the Dutchman’s brother, in a hotel in Catalunya earlier today.

As much came with a view to discussing the financial parameters of a potential summer deal for Simons.

It is of course common knowledge at this point that Barcelona are on the lookout for reinforcements in the final third with a view to next season.

Having come up short in efforts to land priority target Nico Williams, though, the Blaugrana have been forced to expand their search.

With as much in mind, Deco therefore organised a sit-down with agent Ali Barat, to gain a better understanding of what exactly would be required to fund a reunion.

As confirmed by Sport, however, with Leipzig seeking a sum in the region of €70 million for the Barca youth product, finding a deal would be ‘extremely complicated’, to the point of being almost ruled out.
