Barcelona hit with 2nd injury blow of the day

La Liga giants Barcelona have on Monday been hit with a 2nd blow on the personnel front.

This comes amid confirmation that Fermín López is set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.

The subject of personnel woes has dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the day to date.

As much comes, first, after Barcelona made official plans to send midfield starlet Gavi back under the knife, to solve a persistent knee concern.

Engine room partner Fermín was then also put through a round of medical scans and tests.

The 22-year-old went to ground in distress following the full-time whistle in Barcelona’s victory over Getafe on Sunday.

And it has since been revealed that Fermín suffered ‘an iliopsoas muscle injury in his left leg’, expected to culminate in a spell of around three weeks on the treatment table:

‘The player Fermín López has an iliopsoas muscle injury in his left leg. He will be out of action for around three weeks. The midfielder came on the second half of Sunday’s 3-0 win over Getafe and was injured in the very last seconds of the game at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.’
