Barcelona hit back at Spain as Lamine Yamal drama heats up

The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have moved to firmly deny claims that they failed to notify the Spanish national team of Lamine Yamal’s back discomfort heading into the recent international break.

That’s according to Cadena SER, who have this weekend provided the latest on the situation.

The name of wide-man Lamine has of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last 24 hours.

This comes after word was forthcoming that the 18-year-old will not be available for Barcelona’s meeting with Valencia on Sunday.

As much comes fresh off Lamine playing almost the entirety of Spain’s two World Cup qualifiers over the last week.

Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference on Saturday, Barcelona boss Hansi Flick did not hold back in placing the blame for Lamine’s fitness problems squarely on the doorstep of La Roja.

As much was in turn followed by claims that the Spanish national team doctors had made clear that they were not informed of any discomfort on Lamine’s part by Barcelona ahead of the break.

But as alluded to above, in the time since, the Blaugrana have hit back.

As per a report from SER:

‘Barca defend that the physios and doctors of the national team were aware of Lamine Yamal’s discomfort.

‘Both parties maintained communication at all times regarding the player’s acute pain.’
