The brass at La Liga champions Barcelona have earmarked Inter Milan star Alessandro Bastoni as the club’s leading transfer target for next season.
This comes amid the understanding that the name of the Italian has been underlined in red at the Spotify Camp Nou.
It is of course common knowledge at this point that Barcelona are on the lookout for reinforcements at centre-back next summer.
With Iñigo Martínez’s absence yet to be properly covered, the Blaugrana have drawn up a shortlist of candidates to add to Hansi Flick’s ranks at the back.
And according to market insider Matteo Moretto, the name of the aforementioned Bastoni sits at the very top.
As per a report from Marca:
‘Barça believe Bastoni possesses key qualities for their project, both for his defensive prowess and his ability to initiate attacks from the back.’
Deco, in turn, has already gone as far as to hold a meeting with the Italian’s representatives.
It is currently unclear, however, if Bastoni himself is open to the prospect of a San Siro departure.
