La Liga giants Barcelona have come to the decision to allow a headline member of the club’s midfield setup to depart free of charge.
That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who unsurprisingly points towards İlkay Gündoğan as the player in question.
It is of course now common knowledge that German international Gündoğan is primed to bring the short-lived chapter of his Barcelona career to a close this summer, amid efforts on the part of the Camp Nou brass to reduce the club’s bloated wage bill.
One aspect of the impending transfer which had remained unclear, however, is just what Barca’s demands were likely to be when it comes to sanctioning a deal.
But, on Tuesday, any such uncertainty has been cleared up.
As per a report from Fabrizio Romano:
‘Understand Barcelona have 100% decided to let Ilkay Gündogan leave for free.’
Gündoğan’s representatives have in turn flown out to the UK, in an effort to seal a free agent return to The Etihad, with Pep Guardiola’s Man City.
