La Liga giants Barcelona have identified their primary transfer target to reinforce the heart of the club’s backline with a view to next season.
The player in question? Alessandro Bastoni.
Stopper Bastoni is for his part widely regarded as one of the standout central defenders in all of European football.
Plying his trade on the books of Serie A heavyweights Inter Milan, the 26-year-old has built a reputation for himself as a cultured defender, with the ability to thrive on both sides of the ball.
It is Bastoni’s stellar ball-playing abilities which have attracted Barcelona, with those in a position of power at the Camp Nou of the opinion that he would be the perfect partner for youngster Pau Cubarsí at centre-back.
Not only that, but as per a report from The Athletic:
‘Barcelona sources believe the player would be keen on the move.’
The financial element of any potential deal remains a source of concern for the Blaugrana, but Deco and co. are nevertheless ready to push hard to land a player who would add guaranteed poise and quality to Hansi Flick’s defensive ranks for the 2026/27 campaign.
