Barcelona handed timely injury boost ahead of PSG clash

All associated with La Liga giants Barcelona have today been afforded an altogether welcome boost.

This comes amid confirmation that a headline member of the club’s sidelined contingent looks set to be fit and available for Barca’s upcoming showdown with French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

The player in question? Frenkie de Jong.

Midfielder De Jong has of course been out of action since early this month, after suffering a lateral ligament sprain in his right ankle, during the Blaugrana’s La Liga meeting with Athletic Club.

The injury immediately threw his participation against the aforementioned PSG up in the air, with the first leg of Barcelona’s Champions League quarter-final tie set to play out on the 10th of April.

If the latest word stemming from the media on Thursday is anything to go by, though, then all of a Blaugrana persuasion can breathe a sigh of relief.

As per a report from Diario AS, ‘everything indicates that De Jong will be one hundred percent for the Champions League event’.

As much comes with the former Ajax man’s recovery continuing to come along ‘very positively’.

De Jong, as a result, is expected to take his place back in group training during the first week of April, before slotting into boss Xavi’s XI for his side’s trip to Paris.
