La Liga giants Barcelona have on Thursday been afforded some welcome positive news on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that Frenkie de Jong has returned to group training in Catalunya’s capital.
Midfielder De Jong was of course forced to sit out for the latest occasion, as Barcelona locked horns with Atlético Madrid in the Champions League’s quarter-finals.
And en route to an eventual 2-0 defeat for Hansi Flick’s troops, the Dutchman’s talents were sorely missed.
De Jong has not taken to the pitch since late February, owing to a serious hamstring injury.
All associated with Barcelona will therefore no doubt be delighted with the latest word stemming from the Ciutat Esportiva.
As per a report from Blaugrana insider Carlos Monfort, De Jong linked back up with his teammates in training on Thursday morning.
The former Ajax man took part in specific drills during the session, amid hopes of De Jong being declared fit to feature from the off against Atlético Madrid at the Metropolitano next Tuesday.
