Barcelona fire law firm for advising Lionel Messi

Barcelona have decided to part ways with the services of the law firm, Cuatrecasas, for advising Lionel Messi on his desire to leave the club, according to Cadena SER.

It has been reported that the same law firm advised Messi to send the burofax notifying the club of his intention to leave.

Barca have deemed Cuatrecasas’ involvement in Messi’s potential departure from Camp Nou as “unacceptable”. The Catalan club continue to maintain their stance of keeping their greatest ever player – or only selling him for his release clause of 700 million euros.

The Argentine believes he can leave for free while Barcelona claim that such an agreement was only valid until June 10. Messi’s lawyers insist that, because the season was pushed out due to the coronavirus, the date of that agreement is no longer valid.
