Sections of the fanbase at La Liga giants Barcelona were on Saturday forced to eat their words regarding a member of the club’s attacking ranks.
The player in question? Ferran Torres.
Frontman Ferran is for his part of course in the midst of a spectacular evening’s work to date.
Restored to starting duties for Barcelona’s La Liga meeting with Real Betis, the former Manchester City man has responded in the best way possible.
After the Blaugrana fell into an early hole at La Cartuja, Ferran notched a first-half hat-trick, to turn the clash firmly on its head.
This took his tally for the campaign to an altogether impressive 11 goals in league play.
Despite his head-turning numbers, Ferran had actually come in for heavy criticism of late, with widespread sections of Barca supporters having again made clear post-Chelsea their feelings that he is simply not of the required standard to lead the line in Catalunya’s capital.
Many in fact went as far as to aim harsh abuse at the 25-year-old online.
Such critics will in turn be left with little choice but to either apologise, or keep quiet regarding Ferran’s exploits on Saturday evening.
