Barcelona face major decision amid claims Alejandro Baldé could miss rest of season

An update on the wellbeing of Barcelona defender Alejandro Baldé has come to the fore late this evening.

And the news, unfortunately for those of a Blaugrana persuasion, is of a less than positive nature.

Baldé, of course, set pulses racing across the Barcelona fanbase late on Wednesday.

This came upon the Spanish international limping out of his side’s eventual 4-2 Copa del Rey defeat at the hands of Athletic Club.

As Baldé made his way from the pitch, he was spotted looking close to tears, sparking immediate fears of an incoming spell on the sidelines.

And, if the latest word stemming from the media 24 hours on is anything to go by, precisely that could well be on the cards.

As per a report from Marca, as cited by Relevo, Baldé is in serious danger of missing the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign.

This comes with the full-back understood to have torn a muscle in his right hamstring.

The powers that be in Catalunya, as a result, must now decide whether or not to send Baldé under the knife, to repair the problem in as efficient a manner as possible.

As much could determine not only the 20-year-old’s return to play timeline, but the quality of the muscle’s recovery, too.
