Barcelona face competitor in race for Marcus Rashford signing

La Liga giants Barcelona look set to face competition in their pursuit of the permanent signing of Manchester United star Marcus Rashford.

This comes amid confirmation of Chelsea entering the fray for the England international.

Frontman Rashford is for his part of course in the midst of what has been a thoroughly productive stint on the books of Barcelona to date.

After joining the Blaugrana on loan over the summer, the 28-year-old has taken full advantage of an early-season injury crisis in Hansi Flick’s squad.

All told, across 16 appearances in all competitions, Rashford has racked up 15 direct goal contributions.

The widespread expectation, in turn, is that Barcelona will attempt to make his signing permanent in the summer of 2026.

As alluded to above, however, their efforts towards as much could yet be complicated, by the emergence of a rival suitor.

As per a report from Fichajes:

‘Chelsea have made the English striker the top priority in their attacking project and are prepared to do whatever it takes to snatch him away from Barça.’

With major financial backing behind them, Chelsea, it is suggested, could be willing to pay over the odds to bring Rashford to Stamford Bridge for next season.
