Barcelona expecting Jorthy Mokio response over coming days

The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona are hopeful of being afforded a final response from a leading summer transfer target over the days ahead.

That’s according to transfer insider Matteo Moretto of Relevo, who points towards Jorthy Mokio as the player in question.

Mokio, for his part, is a 16-year-old defender, currently plying his trade in his home country of Belgium with KAA Gent.

Primarily a centre-half, the starlet, despite his tender years, has already taken to the pitch on a number of occasions for Gent’s senior side.

And his exploits have long begun to pique the attentions of the scouting department at the aforementioned Barca.

Mokio travelled to the Blaugrana’s Champions League meeting with Paris Saint-Germain last month, during which first contacts were initiated between the entourage of the stopper, and the team of directors in Catalunya’s capital.

Talks over a potential joining of forces have since continued, with the aforementioned Relevo, on Tuesday, having provided an update on the situation.

A deal, on Barcelona’s side of things, is understood to be all but in place for Mokio.

However, amid further interest from across the continent on the part of the likes of Manchester City and AS Roma, Deco and co. are patiently awaiting a final answer on the player’s plans beyond the summer.

This should be forthcoming ‘in the coming days’, with the Barca brass confident in their chances of tying up the transfer.
