Barcelona & ex-Real Madrid coaches reject La Liga manager’s job

Current and former members of the coaching staff at Spanish football’s two leading clubs have rejected the opportunity to take up the managerial reins at La Liga outfit Levante.

The pair in question? Thiago Alcântara, and Raúl González.

Beginning with the former, Thiago currently acts as a member of Barcelona’s first-team coaching setup, after recently returning to Catalunya’s capital following an initial stint spent aiding Hansi Flick’s adaptation.

Raúl, meanwhile, took his place on the bench at Real Madrid Castilla through May of 2025, only to depart in search of a more prominent role.

And yet, as alluded to above, the Spaniard this week rejected precisely as much, by way of an offer from La Liga newcomers Levante.

As per a report from market insider Matteo Moretto, speaking to Solo Fichajes:

‘Thiago Alcántara and Raúl González Blanco reject the proposal from Levante UD for their bench.’

Levante remain on the lookout for a new first-team head coach following the dismissal of Julián Calero late last month.
