Barcelona directors send demand to Xavi over ‘damaging’ touchline behaviour

Members of the boardroom at La Liga giants Barcelona have this week forwarded something of a demand to head coach Xavi, regarding his behaviour during the club’s fixtures.

The name of tactician Xavi has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last 24 hours.

As much comes after the ongoing efforts of the Barcelona brass to convince their beloved headmaster to stay put beyond the summer were at long last confirmed to have borne fruit.

Speaking during a press conference on Thursday afternoon, Xavi announced that:

“I have changed my mind. Rectifying is for wise people. It’s not a matter of money or ego. I saw everyone’s confidence.”

Whilst the 44-year-old, for the time being at least, has been afforded the backing of those in a position of power at the Camp Nou, however, not all appear as enamoured with Xavi as the likes of Joan Laporta and Rafa Yuste.

This comes amid the revelation that the former midfielder was recently the recipient of a warning, from the club’s directors.

This relates to his behaviour on the touchline.

As per a report from Catalunya Ràdio:

‘Some board members are demanding from Xavi a change to his attitude on the bench. They believe that the coach’s frequent red cards give the club a bad image.’

It now remains to be seen whether such pressure proves sufficient to sway the ever-fiery Xavi.
