Barcelona dealt a transfer blow

La Lia giants Barcelona have early this week been dealt a setback on the transfer front.

This comes amid the understanding that Harry Kane has agreed to put pen to paper on a new contract with German champions Bayern Munich.

It is of course common knowledge at this point that Barcelona are on the hunt for reinforcements up top with a view to the 2026/27 campaign.

Amid an ongoing search for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, the Blaugrana have identified Atlético Madrid’s Julián Alvarez as their priority target.

The aforementioned Kane, though, has also remained on the radar of Deco and co. for some time now. In fact, the Barca brass recently went as far as to make contact with the representatives of the Englishman.

But as alluded to above, such efforts have failed to bear fruit for the Catalans.

As per a report from market expert David Ornstein of The Athletic:

‘England captain Harry Kane is likely to sign a new contract at Bayern Munich despite an enquiry from La Liga champions Barcelona to his representatives.’
