Barcelona dealt a transfer blow

La Liga giants Barcelona have on Thursday received some less than encouraging news on the transfer front.

This comes amid confirmation that a leading contender for the signature of Marc-André ter Stegen have pulled out of the race for his services.

The outfit in question? Galatasaray.

Turkish heavyweights Gala have been credited with a strong interest in goalkeeper Ter Stegen across the summer to date.

Amid an ongoing search for fresh blood between the posts following Fernando Muslera’s retirement, those behind the scenes at RAMS Park earmarked the out-of-favour Barcelona man as the ideal profile.

In turn, it will no doubt mark a blow for those in the Camp Nou boardroom – amid ongoing efforts to find a new club for Ter Stegen – to learn of Galatasaray pulling the plug on their pursuit.

As per a report from Diario Sport:

‘The response of Ter Stegen and his entourage has not met the expectations of the Galatasaray leaders. As reported by media close to the club, coach Okan Buruk has said enough and opted to change his objective in order to immediately finalize the arrival of a top-level goalkeeper.’
