Barcelona currently only have one goalkeeper available for La Liga opener

La Liga champions Barcelona as things stand have just one goalkeeper eligible to take to the pitch in the club’s upcoming league opener.

That’s according to Diario AS, who point towards Iñaki Peña as the player in question.

Peña, for his part, was widely expected to be on the move this summer, having tumbled down the pecking order between the posts in Hansi Flick’s squad.

For the time being, however, Barcelona may well be forced to keep hold of the 26-year-old.

As per a report from AS:

‘The truth is that Hansi Flick is only certain he’ll be able to count on the Alicante-born keeper for the La Liga opener on August 16 in Mallorca. Peña is, as of today, the only one who is available, as he’s currently registered.’

As of this moment, Marc-André ter Stegen is sidelined through injury, whilst neither Joan García nor Wojciech Szczęsny have yet been registered with La Liga for 2025/26.
