The board at La Liga giants Barcelona are giving consideration to reigniting their chase of Sporting CP star Luis Suárez following the turn of the year.
That’s according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, who have this week provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes at the Spotify Camp Nou.
Frontman Suárez was one of a whole host of centre-forwards tipped to take his talents to Hansi Flick’s Barcelona this past summer.
Amid a search for reinforcements up top following the respective departures of both Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres, the 28-year-old, fresh off another goal-filled campaign, made his way firmly onto the radar of Deco and co.
In the end, Sporting’s demands brought a halt to any potential transfer, with the Blaugrana having opted for a cut-price swoop for Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus.
As alluded to above, though, the interest of those in Catalunya’s capital in Suárez’s signature remains… As per a report from Fichajes, after a strong opening to the new season (8G/A in 8 appearances), the Colombian is back in the sights of Barca with a view to January.
