All of a Barcelona persuasion are adamant that their side were deserving of a late penalty kick in the club’s latest outing.
This comes owing to a challenge from Dani Carvajal on Ronald Araújo.
As proceedings rolled into injury time in the latest edition of El Clásico, Barcelona directed a lofted ball into the hosts’ penalty area.
The aforementioned Ronald Araújo, pushed into a centre-forward role once again, was the intended target.
As the Uruguayan rose in an attempt to head the ball, however, he was the recipient of a push in the back on the part of Dani Carvajal.
Araújo, in turn, went to ground. The team of officials, however, called for the stopper to get back to his feet, and play on.
Upon replays of the incident being broadcast, Barcelona’s supporters then found themselves up in arms.
This came amid widespread claims that the foul on Carvajal’s part was an obvious one, which should have culminated in a spot-kick, and a late chance for the Blaugrana to level things up.
