La Liga champions Barcelona are continuing to mull over a swoop for Bayer Leverkusen star Alejandro Grimaldo.
This comes with the Blaugrana not entirely satisfied with their options at left-back.
A clear pecking order of course exists on the left of Hansi Flick’s Barca backline, with Alejandro Balde first-choice, and Gerard Martín the backup.
Flick and his coaching staff, though, are understood to be of the opinion that this is an area which could be improved by a different profile of player.
For this reason, Deco and co. are giving consideration to reigniting their pursuit of the aforementioned Alejandro Grimaldo.
Ex-Barcelona youth talent Grimaldo was hotly tipped for a Camp Nou return over the summer, only for the Catalans’ financial constraints to put an end to any hopes of a reunion.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, though:
‘Grimaldo’s name remains on their shortlist due to his quality, his performance, and because his situation at Bayer Leverkusen, with a year and a half remaining on his contract, makes him a very attractive prospect.’
