The brass at Barcelona are giving real consideration to launching a move for a member of the attacking ranks at La Liga rivals Villarreal.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Etta Eyong as the player in question.
Eyong, for his part, is a 21-year-old attacker, who chiefly operates in a centre-forward role.
The youngster broke into the first-team picture at Villarreal late last season, notching a quartet of appearances, and even netting the winning goal in a 1-0 downing of Girona.
And his stellar performances in pre-season, as well as over the first two rounds of the new La Liga season, have begun to give rise to heavy speculation surrounding Eyong’s future.
This comes with the Cameroonian’s Villarreal contract understood to contain a release clause of less than €10 million.
A release clause, it would appear, which the aforementioned Barcelona are considering activating…
As per a report from Sport:
‘FC Barcelona has one of the great opportunities in the market on the table. The club is considering paying the release clause of Karl Etta Eyong.’
The plan would be for the Blaugrana to sign Eyong immediately, before farming him out on loan to another Spanish top-flight club for the 2025/26 campaign.
