La Liga champions Barcelona have had their attentions piqued by the talents of an up-and-coming member of the Australian national team’s World Cup squad.
The player in question? Lucas Herrington.
Herrington, for those not familiar with his name, is an 18-year-old central defender, who is currently plying his club trade with Major League Soccer side the Colorado Rapids.
Since swapping his home country for the USA earlier this year, the stopper has seen his reputation continue to grow, with Herrington already considered one of the first names on the Rapids’ team sheet.
Such talents gave rise to an expected call-up to Australia’s squad for this summer’s World Cup, with the Brisbane native having been capped at senior level on four previous occasions by his country.
And as alluded to above, these accomplishments, at such a young age, are understood to have turned the head of one of European football’s biggest clubs.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Barcelona are seriously interested in acquiring the services of Lucas Herrington.’
The Blaugrana, in fact, are said to have seen an opening €10 million offer for the teen’s signature rejected this summer.
