La Liga giants Barcelona were the recipients of a world record transfer bid for a member of the club’s attacking ranks back in 2024.
The player in question? Lamine Yamal.
Wide-man Lamine is of course widely considered world football’s standout young talent, viewed as a multiple-time Ballon d’Or winner in the making.
Despite being just 18 years of age, the Spanish international is already a mainstay in Barcelona’s XI, the Blaugrana’s chief source of creativity in the final third.
As alluded to above, though, had things played out differently just two years ago, Lamine could well have found himself lining out in the colours of another of Europe’s leading clubs.
Speaking during an interview with Jijantes (as cited by Fabrizio Romano) this week, Joan Laporta, president at the Camp Nou at the time, revealed:
“Paris Saint-Germain offered us €250m for Lamine Yamal two years ago. We turned it down. He was 17 years old — some people thought we were crazy!”
