Barcelona confirm Dani Olmo transfer fee

Barcelona president Joan Laporta this weekend confirmed the extent of the fee forked over by the club to sign Dani Olmo during the summer.

Midfielder Olmo, of course, took his talents back to Catalunya’s capital earlier this summer.

Following a lengthy saga, RB Leipzig in the end granted the wish of their long-time star man to return to his home country early in August.

Olmo went on to enjoy a fine start to life back in Barcelona colours, finding the net in each of his first three appearances for Hansi Flick’s side.

He has spent the time since condemned to a spell on the sidelines through injury, but is expected to go on to play a starring role once more upon his return.

Those of a Blaugrana persuasion will therefore no doubt be interested to hear of an insight being provided into their side’s outlay on Olmo’s signature.

Speaking during the Ordinary General Assembly in Barcelona earlier today, Joan Laporta opened up on the club’s summer transfer business.

And, in quotes gathered by Mundo Deportivo, Laporta went on to confirm that Dani Olmo’s signing, bonuses excluded, set the Catalans back €47 million:

“We have had restraint in investments. Our sporting director has done very well and the only investments have been Olmo and Pau Víctor. We are talking about around 50 million for a major investment and Olmo cost us 47 million.”
