Barcelona assistant manager Marcus Sorg has revealed that Lamine Yamal was impacted by the raucous atmosphere created by Real Madrid’s fans on Sunday.
Wide-man Lamine has of course come in for widespread criticism across the evening to date.
This comes amid accusations of the 18-year-old failing to back up his words with the level of his performance on the pitch.
En route to Barcelona being condemned to defeat at the hands of arch rivals Real Madrid, Lamine struggled to make any sort of impact of note.
Just days on from the youngster sparking widespread anger in Spain’s capital through his ‘stealing’ comments, the Santiago Bernabéu crowd came together to create a tense and difficult atmosphere for Lamine this evening.
And speaking to the media in the game’s aftermath, Barca assistant manager Marcus Sorg – standing in for Hansi Flick for the evening – admitted that as much ‘affected’ his side’s attacking prodigy:
“The atmosphere at the Santiago Bernabéu has affected him a bit. He’s still learning to deal with the pressure from the spectators, like the whistles and chants. He normally plays well, but today it wasn’t easy for him.”
