Barcelona chief provides Joan García injury update

Barcelona sporting director Deco has on Saturday evening spoken out on the wellbeing of Blaugrana star Joan García.

This comes after the summer arrival in Catalunya’s capital was forced into a premature departure from the warmup for Barca’s meeting with Mallorca.

Hansi Flick’s troops are of course currently in La Liga action.

In the opening outing of the defence of their Spanish top-flight title, Barcelona have made the trip to Son Moix.

Just moments before kick-off in Mallorca, however, panic was sparked amongst the Blaugrana staff and fanbase alike.

As much came upon the aforementioned Joan, on the verge of his competitive debut for his new club, pulling up with a wrist problem.

The 24-year-old was subsequently seen to by the Barcelona medical staff, with his wrist having been tightly strapped up.

Speaking to the media ahead of kick-off at Son Moix, the subject of Joan’s wellbeing was therefore put to Blaugrana sporting director Deco.

And the Portuguese went on to explain:

“I met the doctor and he told me Joan García is fine. They’re just bandaging his hand.”

Joan for his part ultimately managed to take his place between the posts from the off in Mallorca.
