Barcelona chief foresees Mbappé ‘tactical problems’ for Real Madrid

Barcelona sporting director Deco today provided his take on the impending arrival of Kylian Mbappé at arch rivals Real Madrid.

It is of course world football’s worst-kept secret that frontman Mbappé is all set to take his talents to Spain, with Real Madrid this summer.

After informing Paris Saint-Germain of his decision not to renew his expiring contract at the Parc des Princes, the France international has since been locked in negotiations with the brass at the Santiago Bernabéu, over the terms of a long-term deal starting from next season.

With Mbappé set to link up with the likes of Jude Bellingham and Vinícius Jr. in a star-studded attack in Madrid, understandable excitement has long been spreading amongst those of a Blancos persuasion, eager to see another of world football’s finest added to an already talent-laden squad.

As alluded to above, though, one individual who foresees potential ‘problems’ stemming from Mbappé taking his place in Carlo Ancelotti’s Real ranks, comes in the form of the aforementioned Deco.

Speaking in an extensive interview with Què T’hi Jugues on Wednesday, Barcelona’s sporting director was asked for his take on the explosive impending reinforcements on the other half of the Clásico divide.

And, after first admitting that Real Madrid will undoubtedly be ‘stronger’ for having Mbappé, Deco went on to highlight tactical drawbacks which will need to be overcome:

“Mbappé to Real Madrid? There is no debate, he is a decisive player, he scores a lot of goals. If he joins Real Madrid, they will be stronger. But they will have to resolve some tactical problems. In football, balance is very important.”
