Barcelona chief Deco meets with Jorthy Mokio’s representatives

Barcelona sporting director Deco this weekend held a meeting with the entourage of one of Belgian football’s most highly-regarded young talents.

The player in question? Jorthy Mokio.

Mokio, for his part, is a 16-year-old defender, currently plying his trade in his home country of Belgium with KAA Gent.

Primarily a centre-half, the starlet, despite his tender years, has already taken to the pitch on a number of occasions for Gent’s senior side.

And his exploits have long begun to pique the attentions of the scouting department at the aforementioned Barca.

Mokio travelled to the Blaugrana’s Champions League meeting with Paris Saint-Germain last month, during which first contacts were initiated between the entourage of the stopper, and the team of directors in Catalunya’s capital.

And, as alluded to above, this weekend, Deco and co. have taken things a step further.

As revealed by Belgian transfer insider Sacha Tavolieri, whilst Mokio himself was lining out for Gent, his representatives were in the thick of a sit-down with the Barcelona brass.

As much comes, it is understood, with a view to a potential summer transfer.
